Grimes To Retire From Sonora Area Foundation

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Area Foundation is set to begin a nationwide search for a new Executive Director, as Mick Grimes has announced that he will retire in May.

?Mick has been a real asset over the past 12 years,? says SAF President Celeste Boyd. ?He has represented us so well. We have been in a time of growth, and he has been a great face in the community. He has brought in many new donors.?

Grimes has been at the Foundation´s helm since 1997, and will participate in the selection and training of the new CEO.

“This is the best work I´ve ever been involved in,? says Grimes in a statement. ?I´ve always said if I had known about this field earlier, I never would have pursued anything else. It´s rewarding in so many ways, and allows so many people to make a difference in their community.?

Grimes came to the position from Clovis, Ca, after a long career in insurance and several years as Executive Director of the Foundation for Clovis Schools. Grimes and his wife Lyn plan to remain in Twain Harte, and spend more time traveling, fishing and grand parenting.

The Foundation and its supporting organizations have assets of more than $28 million, and administers over 180 charitable funds for community and non-profit groups.

Boyd says the Foundation´s hope is to have the new Executive Director selected and on the job by the first of March, which would allow the individual to work first hand with Grimes for a period of two months.
