Silver Creek Fire Closes Hwy 108

Inyo National Forest, CA — Effective 8:15pm Sunday Hwy 108 from Kennedy Meadows to Hwy 395 was closed due to the Silver Creek Fire.
The 70 acre fire is located on Hwy 108 near the Pickle Meadows Marine Corp Mountain Warfare Training Center. A lightning strike caused the fire Sunday afternoon in the Humboldt-Toyaibe National Forest about five miles northwest of the closure of Hwy 108.
The fire has reportedly burned within a quarter-of-a-mile of the base. A nearby campground was evacuated as well as Marines training at the Center.
The Central Valley Transportation Management Center in Fresno is reporting that Hwy 108 is scheduled to reopen this morning at nine o´clock.
