San Francisco, CA — The San Francisco Chronicle is quoting CAL Fire Battalion Chief Don Stein as saying that his agency, “is not seeking charges at this time and most likely will not, unless something new comes up” regarding the Telegraph Fire in Mariposa County

Stein said, “investigators made it clear that they didn´t see gross negligence, that it was just a tragic accident.” One of the investigators was CAL Fire Battalion Chief Dennis Townsend who is based in Sonora.

The 28 year old target shooter has only been identifed by the last name of Mosher. Along with two friends he was target shooting near the end of Mosher Rd. northeast of downtown Mariposa near his family´s mining claim on U.S. Bureau of Land Management property when the fire started at approximately 3:15pm two weeks ago today.

Overall 30 structures and 100 outbuildings were destroyed. The cost of fighting the fire now stands at $37,600,000.
