Tuolumne CAO To Recommend Delaying Proposed Jail Project
Sonora, CA — According to documents received from the County Administration Office by KVML News, CAO Craig Pedro will state before the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors today that his staff believes it is premature to move forward with a jail construction project at this time.
However, for the purpose of ensuring that the county would still be considered for all future state grant funding cycles, Pedro will recommend to the Board that the county prepare and submit an application for AB 900 funding (the maximum allowable amount for a rural county is $30 million).
He will also recommend that the county prepare an application supporting the siting of a 30 bed re-entry facility adjacent to the Sierra Conservation Center and prepare an application supporting efforts to a) plan to site a facility to provide a continuum of care for mental health and substance abuse services for Tuolumne County parolees and b) identifying Behavioral Health´s Cabezut Rd. office at which such services would be provided.
Other items on today´s agenda: consideration of approving a Memorandum of Understanding with Avalon Health Care, Inc. for the construction of a new 90-120 bed skilled nursing facility within the county and the first reading of an ordinance adding Chapter 9.22 to the county´s Ordinance Code to regulate excessive noise and amending Chapter 1.10 of the Tuolumne County Ordinance Code to authorize enforcement of such.
