Major Injuries Suffered In Cherokee Rd. Accident

Sonora, CA — Two people suffered major injuries in a single vehicle accident on Cherokee Rd. south of Nonies Rd. Tuesday evening at approximately 10:20.

According to the C.H.P. report, 26 year old Michael E. Moungovan of Rohnert Park, CA lost control of his 2002 Ford Excursion as he approached an ascending left curve at a high rate of speed. The vehicle exited the east edge of the roadway traveling onto the dirt shoulder. The vehicle rolled over completely and landed on its passenger side partially blocking the northbound lane.

Moungovan had to be extricated from the vehicle. He suffered major injuries and was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto as was 24 year old Kate Moungovan of Sabastopol who also suffered major injuries.

25 year old Amanda Bartholomew and 22 year old Amber Bartholomew of Tuolumne suffered minor injuries and were transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

27 year old Oliver Cunneen of Blenheim, New Zealand was moderately injured … he was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

23 year old Rebecca Sargo of Jamestown was not injured.

According to CHP Officer Mike Remmel alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this accident.
