Columbia Shooting Victim Identified

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has identified 57 year old Michael Bates as the deceased victim of a gunshot wound.
At 4:32pm Tuesday the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male subject on the floor of a private residence on Upper Quail Mine Rd. in the Columbia area.
An autopsy has been performed and the results are pending the release of the toxicology report.
The California State Department of Justice is assisting in the investigation.
