Tuolumne County Health Fair Concludes Today

Sponsored by:

The two day Tuolumne County Health Fair concludes today at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.

Tuolumne County Public Department of Health Department Support Technician, Sandy Perkins, was KVML’s Wednesday, “Newsmaker of the Day”.

After over 30 years of this annual event, Perkins said the Health Fair has become a well attended event and a great representation of the local medical providers, who essentially shut down their businesses for two days, to participate.

Services offered this year include a blood draw for a blood chemistry panel ($20). Those who wish to take advantage of this service should fast for a minimum of twelve hours.

Other services include hearing, vision, bone density, blood pressure, dental, chiropractic and depression screening through the county’s Behavioral Health Department.

According to the Health Deaprtment’s figures, the popularity of this event continues to grow each year. From 2006 to 2007 there was an 11 percent registration increase. Add to that a six percent increase from 2007 to 2008. For each of the last two years the two day Fair has drawn over 4,000 registrants.

For those with early work schedules the Fair opens at 5am. For the general public it opens two hours later. The Fair closes today at 3pm.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47. 7:47 and 8:47am.
