Mexican National Suspect Arrested For Marijuana Grow
Sonora, CA – 29,000 marijuana plants were eradicated in Tuolumne County on Thursday and Friday.
Illegal gardens were located near Yankee Hill, Parrotts Ferry Rd., Murphy Rd., Cherry Lake and Basin Creek.
The eradications were a joint effort between the Tuolumne Narcotics Team, the state’s Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.), Department of Fish and Game and the Bureau of Land Management.

One arrest was made during the two days. T.N.T. Sgt. Craig Davis says, "We executed a search warrant at a Murphy Rd. residence, and we arrested a 28-year-old Mexican National on marijuana cultivation and weapon charges. He was armed, which always causes a little bit of apprehension, but everything went smooth and he was taken into custody without incident."
The unidentified suspect reportedly had been living at the ranch while growing the marijuana. He had been working in a Mexican restaurant.
So far this summer, 181,418 marijuana plants have been eradicated in Tuolumne County. Sgt. Davis urges anyone who notices suspicious activity in an isolated area to call 209-533-5815.
