San Andreas, CA — According to CHP Officer Jaimie Castillo a failure to yield the right away caused the death of 23 year old Mark J. Hooper of Stockton at approximately 4:45pm Friday.

Hooper was a passenger in a 1996 Toyota driven by 28 year old Peter A. Bell of Wilseyville. Bell was westbound on Blue Mountain Rd. at Noble Rd. when he crossed over a double yellow line to make a left hand turn and failed to yield the rightaway to an eastbound 2000 Ford F-350 driven by Clayton B. Elrod of Wilseyville.

Elrod’s vehicle hit the passenger side of Bell’s vehicle killing Hooper.

Elrod suffered minor injuries and was treated at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
