Eastman Sentenced To Three Years In State Prison

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Monday in Tuolumne County Superior Court Joseph Clarence Eastman was sentenced to three years in state prison for the role he played in the April, 2008 death of 19 year old Michael McMahon.

Eastman sold methodone to McMahon who ingested it with Benidryl and alcohol. He subsequently died of a drug overdose.

From District Attorney Donald Segerstrom, “If people do sell mothodone they will be held accountable. For those people who are young people who are taking this stuff we really have to rely upon the media to get the word out that the reason it is a prescription drug and the reason it requires a doctor’s supervision is because it is so dangerous. I mean it obviously does have beneficial uses or doctors wouldn’t prescribe it, but when you abuse the drug or take it for recreational use, that is not what it (methodone) was intended for.”
