Columbia College 40th Year Celebration Continues With A “Jungle Exhibit”

It’s a jungle exhibit that is running through March 13 and the general public is invited to come see animal specimens from North America, South America and the African savannah in the Columbia College Manzanita Rotunda.

Columbia College President Joan Smith was KVML’s Wednesday Newsmaker of the Day.

Smith said, “We look like a museum. This is an opportunity for the entire community to visit our campus and find out more about Columbia College.”

The College is located in Sonora just off of Sawmill Flat Road.

Sponsored as part of the College’s 40th anniversary celebrations, “It’s a Jungle out there!” is an exhibit that features a number of whole mount taxidermy specimens, like an African lion, antelope, leopard, baboon, mountain lion, jaguar, a timber wolf and several others. Partial mounts include a grizzly bear, elk, moose, warthog and others. There will also be live animal and aquatic displays for viewing.

The public can take advantage of self-guided tours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with no admission charge.
