Still No Decison On Trinitas Development

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County will have to wait another month for a decision from the Planning Commission on the controversial Trinitas Development.

According to the Interim Community Development Director Brent Harrington, the commission decided to postpone for another month a decision after meeting for seven hours Thursday.

The development currently consists of an 18-hole golf course. Developers would like to add a club house-pro shop in addition to a 30 unit lodging facility. The proposal also includes 12-14 lots for single family residences. Finally the developers are seeking administrative use permits for events that would host 500 and 1,000 people.

Although he didn’t take an exact count, Harrington felt there were more individuals in favor of the development rather than those against it at the Thursday meeting.

Supporters believe such a project would stimulate the economy while those against the development have voiced an objection due to a potential conflict with agricultural uses. Some have also claimed the construction of the golf couse destroyed wildlife habitat.

With Bill Mason absent, the remaining commissioners vote 4-0 to pursue the issue March 19.

Harrington adds the recommendation of the Planning Commissin will be forwarded to the supervisors.
