Crowds Continue To Cause Problems At Little Sweden

Sponsored by:

A mountainous section of Highway 108 known as Little Sweden, continues to experience a large number of people who are ignoring “No Parking” signs, which is creating a very dangerous traffic hazard for motorists driving just east of Long Barn.

Tuolumne County CHP Officer and Spokesperson Tom Wills was KVML´s Thursday morning Newsmaker of the Day.

According to Wills, “Our officers spent the long Holiday season issuing a lot of citations both at Little Sweden and at Lyons Dam, where the same problem is occuring.”

Wills said that some of the ongoing problems continue to be cars that are parked in places that end up partially blocking the roadway, pedestrians who walk and play in the middle of the Highway, people who bar-b-que in the number 2 lane (slow lane) and for the first time this year, some people had set up their card tables in the middle of the slow lane to picnic.

Wills reminds all motorists that the area is a 55 MPH zone and simply blocking a Highway lane for one´s own recreational purposes is illegal.

On a helpful note, Wills said that a teenage driving safety class will be offered on January 24th at the Willow Springs Clubhouse. This is in partnership with Friday Night Live. To obtain more information call Tom Wills at (209) 984-3944.

The Newsmaker of the Day can be heard each weekday morning at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47 on AM-1450 KVML.
