Sonora School Receives Grants

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– The holidays have definitely come early for one special school in Sonora. The Sierra Outdoor School has been selected to receive $10,000 in Bright Ideas grants from PG&E.

The money will be used to help reduce energy usage, save money and help students learn the importance of environmental responsibilities.

“The Sierra Outdoor School is only one of 25 schools throughout PG&E’s service area in Northern and Central California to receive Bright Ideas grants,” said PG&E Spokesperson Nicole Liebelt. “These grants will help students and teachers learn about green energy and energy efficiency through science projects. This is really the collaboration of PG&E, teachers and students coming together to learn about green technology.”

As part of the larger PG&E Solar Schools program, the Bright Ideas Grants program promotes the understanding of renewable energy. Last spring, 18 additional schools were selected to receive Bright Ideas grants, bringing the total awarded in 2010 to $327, 500.
