It’s Calaveras Gold

Angels Camp, CA — Calaveras County proved to be a winner at the California State Fair over the weekend.

Lisa Mayo, the Calaveras Visitors Bureau Executive Director, was Wedesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

According to Mayo, the county gained a gold ribbon for its display booth that highlight’s “Your Passport to Adventure” featuring a bright jeep loaded with outdoor adventure gear. Local wines are also on display along with a special dedication to Mark Twain, who died one hundred years ago.

The booth was judged on content, marketability, craftsmanship, creative use of products, produce and/or artifacts and technology and/or animation, special effects and experience.

Calaveras County residents are volunteering to greet visitors at the display and help answer questions that the potential new tourists may have.

The State Fair runs through August 1st at the “Cal Expo Grounds” in Sacramento. 

The KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
