Tegen Arrested On Methamphetamine Charges

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — 50 year old Shawn Michael Tegen was arrested Thursday and booked into the Calaveras County Jail on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

A week ago today the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team obtained a search warrant for property located in the 1400 block of Gorley Lane in Railroad Flat.

Items seized during the search included jars containing a multi-layered solution which is a product from the manufacturing process, chemicals and solutions including Coleman fuel, denatured alcohol, toluene, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, laboratory grade glassware, a .22 caliber firearm, ammunition and Tegen’s California’s drivers license.

Based on items found at this location it was determined that Tegen was manufacturing meth. He was subsequently arrested in San Joaquin County at the Superior Court in Stockton Thursday. Tegen has a current case pending in San Joaquin County for the meth manufacturing in Lodi which is his address of record. He is currently being held in the Calaveras County Jail with bail set at $160,000.

According to Sgt. Dave Seawell this marks the first meth lab bust this year. In the past law enforcement personnel would take down 15-25 meth labs a year. Now the Mexican drug cartels control the manufacture of meth with their “super” labs in Mexico. Those labs are financed through the sale of marijuana that is illegally grown in California, Oregon and Washington.
