Happy Holidays For Interfaith

Sonora, CA – The Mother Lode community pledged $30,000 during Clarke Broadcasting’s Santa Fly-In Interfaith Coat, Food and Cash Drive.

The final numbers are around $8,000 higher than last year.

Clarke Broadcasting General Manager Larry England says, “We are very pleased that the Clarke Broadcasting Interfaith Cash Drive raised 30,000 this year. The money will be stretched to the max by the terrific staff at Interfaith led by Cathie Peacock. Our community always rises to the occasion so nothing surprises us anymore, but we are eternally grateful to everyone who contributed to this record breaking event.”

Interfaith Director Peacock says, “Given all the things that were going on this weekend, the windstorms, outages and downed phones, and the economy itself, this was an awesome response from the community.”

In addition, 840 coats and 3,500 lbs. of food were donated on Saturday at the canned Food and Coat Drive in correlation with the Santa Fly-In at Standard Park.

Maryann Curmi, project coordinator says, “”I should be used to it by now, but I have to say… I’m not. I continue to be amazed at the acts of kindness that pour out of this community.”

Curmi gives special thanks to Phi Air Med 42, Columbia Air Base, Columbia College Fire Trainees, Daryll Sarina & Christian Heights Church, Mike Chapell & the staff of Standard Field, Glenn Roberts and the Sonora Police Explorers and Santa Claus and his crew.

100% of all donations (coats, food, and cash) go to Interfaith Social Services to help Tuolumne County families in need.
