Pedestrian Struck By Car In Sonora

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– A 54-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a car last night in Sonora.

The Sonora Police Department says the accident occurred at around 8:20 pm at the intersection of Mono Way and Sanguinetti Road.

The female driver, 23, of Sonora, was reportedly driving a four door sedan eastbound on Mono Way.  She then turned southeast onto Sanguinetti Road and struck the male pedestrian. Authorities say it is unclear at this time if the man was in the crosswalk or in the roadway.

The unidentified man was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto. He sustained broken bones and lacerations, but they are not believed to be life threatening.

Officer Jaemie Boeding of the Sonora PD says neither alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the collision. Names of the involved parties are being withheld pending completion of the investigation.
