Vegetation Fire Near San Andreas

San Andres, CA — CAL Fire is on the scene of a blaze between San Andreas and Mountain Ranch in Calaveras County. They report flames are burning vegetation on Michel Road and Mountain Ranch Road. CAL Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams says “The blaze is 10 to 15 acres. The vegetation is mostly Timber Oak.” Williams’ adds “No structures are in danger at this time.”

Crews are fighting the flames from the ground and the air…with a helicopter, air-attack and tanker. We will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.

Update 1:30pm: CAL Fire says flames have grown to 20 acres and two structures are in danger, but there is no word on what type of structures.


Update 2:05pm: CAL Fire reports crews are getting a handle on the fire as they have stopped the flames forward rate of spread.


Update 3:10pm: CAL Fire reports the fire has grown to 25 acres and 20% contained. They say one structure is damaged, but the threat has been mitigated to the second structure. There is still no word on what types of structures.


Update 4pm: CAL Fire reports flames 50% contained and 23 acres have burned. They say they don’t expect full containment until tomorrow morning as crews will be working throughout the night.
