4-H Wants You

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — The 4-H youth program of Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador and El Dorado Counties want volunteers to help them bring more high tech skills to kids and it will only require two to three hours a month of your time.

4-H Officials say it’s no longer just about farming. They say the program has grown to include a host of high tech programs.

4-H Advisor Jolynn Miller says “We would really like to increase our science, engineering and technology programs.” Miller adds “So somebody who has an interest in robotics, aerospace, wind energy, natural resources or water conservation and forestry, those types of skills are what we would like to offer kids more of.”

Miller says one traditional skill they also need more volunteers for is sewing. She says they demand is high and they don’t have enough volunteers to teach all the kids that want to learn how to sew. Miller says they provide training for volunteers.

The University of California Cooperative Extension operates 4-H in cooperation with local volunteers.
