White Wolf Lodge Improvements
Yosemite, CA — Yosemite National Park is planning to renovate the Historic White Wolf Lodge.
It was the site of early homesteaders and later converted to a lodge in the 1920’s. The buildings, located on Tioga Road, are not up to code and there are drainage and electrical problems. The National Park Service is deciding whether to make repairs as needed or do a major restoration.
An environmental review of the “Preferred Alternative” will be released on Friday.
According to information from the National Park Service, the preferred plan includes making accessibility modifications to the main building, duplex cabins, and immediate surroundings. Repairs would be made to the flooring, foundations and roof. There would be electrical modifications, drainage upgrades and an effort to make the lodge more energy efficient.
There will be an open house later this month where people are invited to discuss the proposed project. It will be from 1-4pm, on February 29th at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.
