Update: Popular Inn Ablaze In Calaveras County

Update at 8:15 a.m.: CAL Fire updates that the blaze at the Tamarack Pines Inn located off Highway 4 northeast of Arnold in Calaveras County has been contained. The structure has been completely destroyed by the fire that broke out around 5 a.m. There were guests at the inn, which has nine guest rooms, when the blaze ignited, but all were able to escape the fire unharmed. Fire investigators are at the scene trying to determine a cause for the blaze. Crews will continue mopping up the area for the next couple of hours. Highway 4 is blocked by fire equipment and one-way traffic is in place for motorists.

Update at 7 a.m.: CAL Fire updates that crews are getting a handle on the flames at the Tamarack Pines Inn located off Highway 4 northeast of Arnold in Calaveras County. There is no word on what ignited the fire at this time, but the building is a total loss. There were guests at the inn when the flames broke out, but all were able to escape the fire unharmed. Update at 6:15 a.m.: CAL Fire details that incoming resources have been called off the scene, but that firefighters are still actively fighting the flames at the Tamarack Pines Inn located off Highway 4, southwest of Bear Valley. Concerns related to a large propane tank near the two-story structure that has nine guest rooms have been alleviated as the tank is about 40 feet from the building and crews have been able to secure that area. All the guests were able to make it out of the inn unharmed.  Further details on the blaze are below.

Original post at 5:30 a.m.: Tamarack, CA — Firefighters are battling a commercial structure fire this morning northeast of Arnold in the Tamarack area of Calaveras County. CAL Fire reports the blaze is in the 18300 block of Highway 4 near Salt Springs Trail, between Big Meadow and Bear Valley. When firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were shooting out of the roof of the Tamarack Pines Inn next door to the Tamarack Lodge.

CAL Fire details that all the guests have been evacuated from the two-story building and no injuries are reported. However, there are concerns regarding a large propane tank near the building that firefighters are working to keep the flames from reaching.

Resources on scene include five engines from CAL Fire, Ebbetts Pass and Bear Valley Fire departments. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
