Sonora Pass Closed For Winter

Sonora, CA — Caltrans reports that Sonora Pass Highway 108 has been closed for the winter.
Road crews encounter 8 inches of snow covering a thick sheet of ice on the roadway that stopped their progress at about the 8,000 foot elevation level with snow falling and deeper drifts ahead. Snow covered Highway 4 Ebbetts and Highway 120 Tioga passes are closed for the holiday weekend. Caltrans spokesperson Warren Alford notes that those roadways will be reassesed on Monday and at that time depending on their conditions they may also be shut down for the season.
