Caltrans Plans, Beginning May 21

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Caltrans crews are heading back to work in the overnight Sunday.

It is part of the $1 million improvement project that is upgrading guardrail on a five-mile stretch of Highway 49 from Harvard Mine Road to Columbia Way and an 11-mile stretch of Highway 108 from the 108/49 junction to Heliport Road. This project is also widening the Highway 108/South Washington Street intersection so that it conforms with the Surface Transportation Assistance Act.

This week’s work zones, which run Sunday evening through Friday morning, are as follows: between Harvard Mine and Rolling Hills roads and between Highway 49 Columbia Way and O’Hara Drive from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.;  also Highway 108 between Highway 49 and Old Wards Ferry Ward Road as well as between Heliport Road and Snowwhite Ridge Drive from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. Expect travel interruptions of up to ten minutes.

Among other Highway 49/108 cone zones is one between Highway 49 and Jamestown Road Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., when a tree crew will be toiling away. Anticipate ten-minute delays there. Saturday only, they will be working between Highway 49 and Lime Kiln Road, which may bring momentary waits.

Highway 120, Calaveras Cone Zones

No overnight closures are in store this week at the Highway 120 James E. Roberts Bridge near Lake Don Pedro, so plan for the customary 24/7 ten-minute delays on either side of the span under signal light control as the renovations continue through the project’s completion, probably sometime in November.

However, three cone zones are in the works for Highway 120 that may generate ten-minute travel delays. The first, which will run Monday through Saturday between Grizzley and Old Priest Grade roads, is for drainage work that is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The other two are utility crew assignments lasting Monday through Thursday between Perricone and Simms roads from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., and also between Chinese Creek and Simms Road from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

In Calaveras, every weekday along Highway 4, anticipate at least ten-minute travel delays during construction between Upper Moran Road and the Big Trees park entrance from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Similar traffic impacts are likely along Highway 12 every weekday as an electrical crew works in the Burson Road area from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.; also during tree work along Highway 26 Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Niderost Lane and Higdon Road.
