Butte Fire Burnt Tree Removal Numbers Continue To Climb

Sponsored by:

Mountain Ranch, CA – The number of hazardous trees cut down in the Butte Fire burn scar nears 80 percent completion.

Crews have been working for weeks to fall burnt trees with Mother Nature slowing crews in the beginning of the year.  In the past couple of months crews have made up for that lost time and this week reached the 78 percent mark for the clearing project. The current number of hazard burnt trees removed by crews from both Public Right of Ways and Private Property has increased to 6,572.

Twelve cutting crews and eight hauling crews work Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting. Once the trees are brought down, debris and logs are taken to Wallace to be chipped and then transported to a Biomass Plant in Chinese Camp.

The roadways being worked on currently include Doster, Hawver, Baker Riley, Worten, Whiskey Slide, Jesus Maria, Potteroff and Railroad Flat roads. (Click here for the month’s schedule)
