Winter Storm Watch Issued For Sierra Nevada
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon.
A wet storm system has the potential to bring one to two feet of wet snow at and above year-round pass levels from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected around mid day
Tuesday bringing treacherous conditions for mountain travel. In addition to the snow, breezy winds may cause white out conditions at times.
Snow levels are expected to start around 5,000 feet, then rise to 7,000 Tuesday into Wednesday.
Total snow accumulation will be four to eight inches above 5000 feet. One to two feet of snow is likely at and above 7,000 feet.
Another system could bring additional snowfall on Thursday.
