Subdivision Map And Visitors Bureau Presentation On Sonora Agenda

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will hold a public hearing tonight about whether to give the developer of the 49-lot Cuesta Heights subdivision more time to get the project off the ground.

The city council approved a tentative subdivision map back in 2008, but the project has stalled due to the poor economy. The tentative map is set to expire in March of 2017, so the developer is requesting a two-year extension to complete a final map. The project is situated on 21 acres at the intersection of Shaws Flat Road and Roble Road.

In addition, the Council will hear an annual presentation from the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau about tourism activity in the region. The council will also vote whether to extend the term of the Visitor Bureau’s current lease to utilize the city owned building on Stockton Street until February 15 of 2017. In the next couple of months the visitor’s bureau is planning to move to and lease a privately owned downtown location at 193 Washington Street.

At the end of tonight’s meeting the council will host a public reception for outgoing police chief Mark Stinson. This is his final scheduled city council meeting before his retirement later this month. In closed session, at 4pm, the council will discuss the search for his successor. The public portion of the meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall.
