Free Transit From The Junction To The Fair

Sponsored by:

Parking is tight around the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, so Tuolumne County Transit will provide a free shuttle tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

Tyler Summersett, Transportation Planner with Tuolumne County, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The Tuolumne County Transit Shuttle will operate between the Junction Shopping Center and the Fairgrounds from 6 pm until 11 pm tonight, noon until 11 pm tomorrow and noon until 9 pm Sunday.

The shuttle will depart from in front of TJ Maxx at the top of each hour and leave the Fairgrounds to return to the Junction at the bottom of hour.

Outside of the local transit shuttles, Summersett also discussed the daily bus service all summer long into Yosemite National Park. Three buses are currently operating from destination points in Tuolumne County to Yosemite Park

The Yosemite Area Regional Transportation Service (YARTS) begins in Tuolumne City (Black Oak Resort) and stops along the way in Sonora, Jamestown and Groveland. Round-trip transportation from pick-up locations in Tuolumne City, Sonora and Jamestown is $25 for adults. The fare is less in Groveland. The Yosemite entrance fees are covered in the bus ticket.

Under-bus storage can be used for backpacks, luggage, bikes and family gear. Tickets can be purchased online this year or from the driver.

Summersett encourages local residents to utilize the bus service.

“You’ll enjoy the luxury of the bus,” said Summersett. “It’s nice to just relax during the commute to the Park.”
