Update: Acreage Jumps In Vegetation Fire In Sierra National Forest
Update 7:15 p.m.: Sierra National Forest officials reports the fire has climbed from 30 to 70 acres. All local resources including Columbia aircraft have been called off the fire.
Update at 4:50 p.m.: Sierra National Forest Spokesperson Iveth Hernandez reports the fire has grown to 30 acres with hoses laid on both sides of the fire. Currently there are two hot shot crews, two helicopters, 15 engines and three dozer. There area a total of 100 personnel actively battling the blaze. Hernandez also reports a high rate of spread and burning in heavy downed and dead timber in a remote area of the forest.
Updated at 1:30pm: Sierra National Forest Spokesperson Iveth Hernandez reports that the Dove Fire in the Sierra National Forest is estimated to be 3-5 acres. There are now four airtankers assigned to the incident, two helicopters, 15 engines, five chief officers and hot shot crews. The fire is situated in the area of Jerseydale Road in Mariposa County. There are no current reports of structures being in immediate danger.
