Calaveras County Looking To Remove Butte Fire Scarred Trees
San Andreas, CA — Now that most all of the debris removal work within the Butte Fire burn scar is wrapping up, an arborist will soon be brought in to consult the county on removing fire damaged trees.
County Spokesperson Sharon Torrence says, “That will be the next big step, and that person will go out and look at the trees, mark them, count them, and let us know what we’re looking at as far as removing those hazardous trees.”
It is not immediately clear how many dead trees will need to be removed. The county has begun accepting proposals for arboricultural and hazardous tree removal consulting services.
Torrence adds, “It will not be for private homes. It will be for trees that are hazardous on public roads, and some private land where the trees might fall onto a public access area.”
