Supervisors Will Talk Fire And Marijuana
Sonora, CA — Proposed changes to an agreement with CAL Fire, and creation of a medical marijuana working group, are among items that will be discussed by the Tuolumne County Supervisors.
At Tuesday’s meeting the board will talk about some potential changes to the funding agreement it has with CAL Fire. Notably, an amendment would allow the Jamestown Fire station to continue its year round staffing, despite the loss of federal SAFER grant funding. The county’s overall agreement with CAL Fire, to help provide needed fire services, will be $11.8-million this year.
The Supervisors will also decide whether to create a medical marijuana working group to look at several issues related to the drug. On a related note, the Supervisors will vote whether to allow “mobile deliveries” of medical marijuana in the county, and refer an ordinance to the Planning Commission for review that would potentially prohibit cultivation.
Also, the county leaders are planning to discuss and extend separate State of Emergency declarations due to dying trees and the ongoing drought. Tuesday’s meeting will start at 9am in the Supervisors meeting room in downtown Sonora.
