Calaveras County Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Copperopolis, CA — A Copperopolis man is behind bars in what appears to be a stabbing incident.
No one was available for comment this morning from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department. The Arrest Log shows deputies arrested 60-year-old John Mark Merritt at 10:22 p.m. Friday at a home on the 1000 block of Iroquois Circle. Â The log lists the charge against Merritt as attempted murder.
There is no information listed as to the identity of the victim. Â Yellow police tape remained up at the scene this morning, according to nearby residents. We will update this story as soon as more information comes into the new center.
