Calaveras County Arts Council Celebrates Summer

Sponsored by:

The Calaveras Arts Council will hold their largest fundraiser of the year this Saturday night from 5 – 10 pm in Sheep Ranch.

Mary Jane Genochio, Executive Director, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“This is our biggest FUNdraising event of the year,” said Genochio. “The annual Cajun Fete is set in the beautiful, historic Pioneer Hotel in Sheep Ranch. The Pioneer Hotel is not open to the public, so attendees will enjoy a rare opportunity to visit for a full night of southern cooking, music and fun.”

Music will be provided by Grammy Award nominee Lisa Haley, who along with her group the ZydeKats, will provide a fun mix of Americana/Cajun/Zydeco music.

A limited number of tickets are available which includes a cajun-style dinner and overall atmosphere. Alcoholic drinks called “Cajaun Kickers” will be available for purchase. Additionally there will be raffle tickets and a silent auction.

All of the proceeds from this event go to support the many events and programs that we bring to Calaveras County throughout the year.

Additionally, the Arts Council will continue to host their “Music in the Parks” series through Wednesday August 19th.

The summer series of free weekly public concerts called “Music in the Parks,” features a variety of music styles, underwritten by local businesses and individuals. This series remains the most popular summertime weekly event.

The complete list of concerts and information on the Cajun Fete can be found at http://www.calaverasarts.org or call 209-754-1774.

The Calaveras County Arts Council is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation.

The Arts Council is not directly a part of county government. However, from the County, they do receive annual in-kind rent support for the office and gallery in San Andreas.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
