Calaveras On Display At California State Fair

The Calaveras Visitor’s Bureau exhibit display at the California State Fair received the Silver Ribbon.

Calaveras Bureau Executive Director Lisa Boulton, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“We took home the Silver Ribbon, which is not an easy task,” said Boulton. “A lot of hours and work went into this display, which we couldn’t be more proud of.”

Tuolumne County won a Gold Ribbon for their display at the Fair.

“Both displays are designed by Richard Bey, which is a great testimony to his work,” said Boulton.

This was the seventh consecutive year for an Award Ribbon for the interactive displays.

Every year, a new display must be built in order to meet the annual theme. This gave the crew at the Visitors Bureau the chance to showcase the entire county in an interactive “car driving” display that takes onlookers from the agricultural areas into the mountains.

“We see each year that the time and effort of our displays pays off,” said Boulton. “We think this is a great reminder to most of the public in the Sacramento area that Calaveras County is really close to home to not only visit but potentially even to live in”.

The exhibit display will be open each day of the State Fair and staffed by Calaveras County locals. The State Fair is located at the Expo Grounds east of Sacramento. It runs through Sunday July 26th.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
