Columbia Air-Attack Heads To Oakhurst Fire

Oakhurst, CA — Columbia Air-Attack is assisting firefighters battling a vegetation fire in Madera County.
It has been named the “Bug Fire,” according to Cal Fire dispatch. The aircraft was called out around 7:10 p.m. to help with the flames that are burning in Oakhurst, south of Yosemite National Park, near Highway 49 and 41. There is no word on size, rate of spread, or if any structures are threatened.
This is in the same area as the 32o-acre Courtney Fire that broke out last September, 2014. As previously reported, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, a man burning deer guts sparked the devastating fire that destroyed 33 houses and forced 1,000 residents, most in the Bass Lake area, from their homes.
