Mandatory Vaccine Bill Passes Committee

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — A bill, that would require California school children to be vaccinated, passed through the Senate Health Committee, 6-2.

A large crowd packed into the hearing held at the state capitol. The legislation was in response to measles outbreak that was linked to Disneyland. The Associated Press reports that one of the parents that had an infant impacted, was on hand to urge lawmakers to pass the bill. She said her child suffered unnecessarily and is still having complications with his eyes.

Meanwhile, several opponents argued that vaccines can be dangerous, and the law would trample parents rights. Parents would no longer be able to use a personal or religious exemption when it comes to backing out of vaccinations.

If approved, California would join Mississippi and West Virginia as the two state’s with this strict of requirements.
