Sonora Anticipating Budget Surplus

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will discuss the budget, special events, and farmer’s market fees.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council will hear an update on how the 2015 budget is holding up. Meeting documents show that the city is currently projected to end the fiscal year with a $148,000 surplus. It is partly due to sales tax revenues coming in higher than anticipated.

The Council will also hear a presentation from a representative of the Sonora Chamber of Commerce about the idea of creating a partnership to establish an Event Management and Presenter Program (EMPP). It would help organize, brand, and promote events in the city.

In addition, the Council will decide whether to increase the fees paid by vendors at the Sonora Farmer’s Market from the current $30, to $35, per event day. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall. Meetings are typically held on Monday, but it was postponed this week due to the Presidents Day holiday.
