Supervisors To Discuss Drought, Health Officer and Workshops
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors will discuss several items during a Tuesday morning session, and then reconvene during the evening to talk about the General Plan update.
During the morning session, starting at 9am, the Board will break into closed session to focus on finding a replacement for the soon to be retiring county health officer, Dr. Todd Stolp. That portion is expected to last for about a half an hour. Â Later, when the Board breaks into open session, there will be a report delivered about the Supervisors Planning Retreat that was held over two days last week, in which various department heads updated the Board on needs and priorities.
In addition, on the issue of the drought, the Board will decide whether to extend the local State of Emergency Declaration. The Supervisors will also decide whether to write a letter to a pair of state agencies, about concerns related to an annual water release out of Lake McClure, which benefits the salmon habitat. Water levels are historically low, and Lake McClure is utilized by the Lake Don Pedro Community Services District.
Tuesday night, the Board will reconvene at 6 o’clock to have a public workshop on the General Plan Update, which serves as a roadmap for growth and development in the county. As reported previously, county staff have been developing the update since late 2013, and the initial draft should be completed by this summer.
