Rim Fire Animal Shelters

Tuolumne County Animal Control is helping those who are affected by the Rim Fire with their animals.

Manager Jennifer Clark was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The first thing that Clark wants everyone to know is that the telephone number for Animal Control is (209) 694-2730.

This is important because a large resource list is being compiled of locations where large animals can be taken, as well as people who are able to haul large animals from one area to another.

For those with smaller animals such as dogs and cats, the shelter in Jamestown is open and available to hold pets for the duration of any evacuation caused by the Rim Fire.

Clark asks that if any pet brought to the shelter has special requirements, such as special food or medication, that all of the supplies and instructions are brought in at the same time as the pet.

As of now, there is enough room to hold dogs and cats at the shelter in Jamestown. Clark says they can expand to other locations if needed.

For those who do have property where horses and/or livestock can be taken, Clarke asks that they call the shelter at (209) 694-2730 with their offers, so that they can be added to the resource list.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
