A former rookie San Francisco police officer is charged with raping two teenage girls after telling them he was working undercover.

Thirty-year-old Joe Alvarez has pleaded innocent to 12 felony charges. He´s being held on 1 million dollars bail.

He´s accused of picking the girls up, talking to them for a while, then forcibly keeping them in the car. He allegedly showed the girls his gun and told them they could be arrested for prostitution.

The first alleged attack happened in July, just months after Alvarez had graduated from the Police Academy.

Alvarez left the police force in August. The second alleged attack happened in October.
