Disney Has To Pay

Sponsored by:

Walt Disney is having to pay up after a probe by the state of California concluded a Disney subcontractor was paying hundreds of workers Mickey Mouse wages.

The company will pay nearly a million dollars in back wages to 800 workers who earned less than minimum wage to make Disney toys.

The five month investigation showed a Disney subcontractor failed to pay overtime and allowed children as young as seven to make tiaras and wands.

One woman says she earned an average of a 1.53 an hour.

Some of the items sold at Disney stores for more than ten dollars.

Disney officials have pulled the subcontractor´s products off its shelves. They say they didn´t know about the company´s labor practices.

The subcontractor has gone out of business.
