Bond´s Ball Fortune To Be Split

Sponsored by:

His name could have been King Solomon.

That judge ruled today that the two baseball fans claiming ownership of the ball hit by Barry Bonds in his record 73rd home run have to split the money from its sale.

Videotape of the ball hit into scrambling fans at Pac Bell Park in October of 2001 showed Alex Popov momentarily gloved it. But it ended up in possession of Patrick Hayashi. The judge says both have legitimate claims and are equally entitled to share the proceeds of the sale ordered by the judge. That one ball is worth about a million dollars at auction.
