County To Lease Westside Engine House

Sponsored by:

Following a fire earlier this year that destroyed the Tuolumne County road maintenance facility in Tuolumne City, the public works department has been trying to find a temporary replace site.

County Supervisors Tuesday should approve an agreement with the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians to lease the old Westside Lumber Company railroad engine house as a temporary road department location.

County Counsel Gregory Oliver says the tribe, which now owns the former lumber mill site, has agreed to lease the engine house for a dollar a month during the one year lease agreement. The lease is to begin this month.

The Supervisors will also consider setting the speed limit on Old Priest Grade at 25 miles per hour at Tuesday´s meeting. The board meets in Sonora at 9 a.m.
