Survey Lists Safest Cities

Sponsored by:

A new report ranks the California communities of Thousand Oaks and Sunnyvale as among the nation´s safest cities.

The report by a Kansas research and publishing firm makes the rankings based on crime rates in six categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and car theft. Amherst, New York tops the list of safe cities, followed by Brick Township, New Jersey; Newton, Massachusetts, Thousand Oaks and Sunnyvale.

St. Louis, Detroit, Atlanta are ranked the most dangerous cities by the Morgan Quitno Press. Some St. Louis promoters dismiss the findings as another bid to satisfy America´s craving for rankings. A spokeswoman for the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission said “people are inundated with this type of thing, and they read it for what it is.”
