PG&E Contributions Reported Late

Sponsored by:

A San Francisco committee to defeat a public power measure has reported $800,000 in Pacific Gas and Electric contributions a month after the deadline.

The No on D committee reported the contributions to the San Francisco Ethics Commission just before the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. That´s more than three weeks after the election.

Jim Sutton is the committee´s treasurer. He says the two contributions for $500,000 and $300,000 were overlooked. He says the committee did not intentionally try to deceive voters.

The committee could be fined nearly $2.5 million by the Ethics Commission. A complaint has been filed and officials there are investigating the matter.

Sutton says the $2.7 million No on D campaign was the city´s largest paid by a single source.
