In Calaveras County, voters had several decisions to make.

In the District 5 Supervisors race, Victoria Erickson defeated Dennis McCord. Erickson had 1,561 votes to McCord´s 1,094. Both Valley Springs residents, McCord and Erickson were vying to succeed Supervisor Terri Bailey, who did not run for re-election.

Appointed incumbent District Attorney Jeffrey Tuttle easily outpolled Brian Chavez-Ochoa, 8,582 votes to 4,041.

Angels Camp voters elected one incumbent and one new face to the City Council from a race of four. Incumbent George “Curley” Middleton was returned to the council, and will join Paul Raggio, who was the top vote-getter in the race. Appointed incumbent Dorian Faught and Gino Baxley were defeated in that race.

Three seats were up on the Mark Twain Health Care District board, and Robert Campana, Terrence Gorman and Tina White were elected. Lewis Steele lost that race.

On the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District board, Timothy Randall and Gary McGeorge took the two open seats. That race was the closest of the night, with McGeorge beating Joan Loomis by just 10 votes, 825 to 815. The other two candidates in the race were Angelita “Angie” Janofsky and Kathleen Russel.
