Bonds Ball Case In Court

Sponsored by:

As the San Francisco Giants prepare for the World Series, lawyers presented their opening statements in court today to decide who gets to keep Barry Bonds historic 73rd home run ball.

A lawyer for Alex Popov says his client caught the ball only to have it ripped from his hands by a crowd of baseball fans. He says the ball belongs to Popov because it was taken violently from him.

But a lawyer for Patrick Hayashi, who came up with the ball, says his client grabbed the ball while it was loose in the crowd. He says Hayashi got it fair and square.

The Giants slugger hit the record-setting home run last October.
