Rail Road Flat Bomb Suspect Arrested

An arrest has been made in the powerful explosion that damaged several buildings in downtown Rail Road Flat early Monday morning.

Calaveras County Sheriffs officials say through their investigation, the primary suspect in the case was determined. Twenty-two-year-old Glynn Edward McNabb Jr., of West Point was traced to Sacramento´s Cal Expo and arrested on an outstanding warrant late Tuesday night by State Fair Police.

After questioning by Calaveras County law enforcement, investigators determined McNabb and two other suspects had made a bomb and had intended to use it to kill another person.

When they were unsuccessful in locating the victim´s residence, they decided to explode the bomb in Rail Road Flat.

McNabb is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession, and exploding an explosive device in a public place.

A warrant has been issued for the other two suspects, 31-year-old Roger Gibbings of West Point, and a juvenile. No one was injured in Monday´s blast.
