More Rain And Snow On The Way

Sponsored by:

Don´t put away that raincoat yet. A storm brewing in the Pacific is expected to move into the Sierra tonight.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service are saying the first wave of a warm storm will hit north of the Mother Lode region this afternoon, but widespread rain and snow is expected on Tuesday. The storm is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to the foothills and drop three to five inches of snow above 7,000 feet.

Up to 3/4 of an inch of rain is expected in the lower elevations and up to 1 1/2 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will generally range between 5,500 to 6,500 feet, but could drop as low as 4,000 feet Tuesday night.

The weather system will move east Wednesday, but lingering showers and thunderstorms are possible.

According to the National Weather Service, another storm system may come through the area later in the week.
