School Bands Strut Their Stuff At Review

Sponsored by:

It was marching band music lover´s paradise – or at least band parents heaven.

Nearly 800 school musicians from almost a dozen Tuolumne and Calaveras county schools strutted their stuff in front of the crowd at Sonora High School´s Dunlavy Field Wednesday night.

The annual Mother Lode Round-Up Band Review is a tradition started several years ago, and now a favorite event during Round-Up week.

Each of the bands at Dunlavy Field had a chance to musically show-off in the spotlight, playing everything from “Louie, Louie” to “Fat Bottom Girls,” to the “Marine Corps Hymn.”

Schools that took part in the review included Sonora High School´s “Golden Regiment,” the Summerville High School´s “Orange Crush,” plus Soulsbyville, Sonora, Jamestown, Sierra Waldorf, Columbia, and Curtis Creek elementary schools, and Avery Middle School from Calaveras County.

The combined marching band from Tenaya and Tioga Elementary showed up in force as did the Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy in their premier public marching performance.

All these marching bands will be featured during Saturday´s famous Mother Lode Round-Up Parade beginning at 10 a.m. on Washington Street in Downtown Sonora.
